The problem
AI agents can do extraordinary things. They can browse the web, write and run code, conduct research, draft documents, and manage your calendar. But there's one thing they still can't do: pay for things.
Every time an AI agent hits a paywall — an API that requires a billing method, a cloud service that needs a credit card, a domain registrar, a SaaS tool — the loop breaks. A human has to step in, pull out a card, complete the checkout, and hand control back to the agent.
This is the last major friction point in agentic workflows. And it's exactly what Meridian Cards solves.
The solution
Meridian Cards is a virtual card issuing platform built for AI agents. Through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), any MCP-compatible AI — Claude, Cursor, or your own agent — can create virtual Visa cards, check balances, list transactions, and close cards, all through natural language.
No web forms. No human-in-the-loop for payments. No copy-pasting card numbers. Just a conversation.
"Create a $50 card for buying API credits" — and 3 seconds later, the agent has a live Visa card ready to use.
Every card is backed by USDC you deposit to your Meridian wallet. We convert it to GBP or EUR at the prevailing rate, and the card is funded instantly. Under the hood, cards are issued via Stripe Issuing — the same infrastructure that powers cards for Mercury, Brex, and hundreds of other fintechs.
How it works
Add Meridian Cards to your Claude Desktop or Cursor config with one line. Your API key authenticates every request.
Tell your AI what you need: "Create a £30 card for Vercel." Claude calls create_virtual_card and returns the card number, CVV, and expiry — all within the conversation.
The agent uses the card details to complete the purchase — on Vercel, AWS, OpenAI, Namecheap, or anywhere else that accepts Visa online. When it's done, the card can be closed and any unspent balance returned.
What you can do
Meridian Cards unlocks a range of agentic workflows that simply weren't possible before:
- Buy API keys — Let agents purchase OpenAI, Anthropic, or Replicate credits autonomously.
- Pay for cloud services — Spin up Vercel deployments, AWS instances, or Supabase projects without a human credit card.
- Purchase domains — Agents can register domains on Namecheap, Cloudflare, or GoDaddy as part of a build workflow.
- Test payment flows — QA teams can create disposable cards with exact spending limits to test checkout flows end-to-end.
- Manage SaaS subscriptions — Assign dedicated cards per service for clean accounting.

What's next
Today we're opening our waitlist. Here's what we're building next:
- More MCP integrations — Native support for ChatGPT, Gemini, and open-source agents.
- Chrome extension — Let agents with browser control use Meridian cards directly in checkout flows.
- REST API — For teams who want to build Meridian into their own agent infrastructure.
- Spend analytics — A dashboard view of where your agents are spending, broken down by card and category.
We're building Meridian Cards in the open — sharing updates here and on X as we go. If you have ideas or use cases you'd like to see supported, we'd love to hear from you at support@themeridian.cards.
